Man dies in two-vehicle crash Monday on Honeytown Road
GREEN TWP. A Sterling man was killed Monday in a crash that involved a tanker trailer along Honeytown Road in Green Township in Wayne County, according to a news release from the Ohio Highway Patrol.
The two-vehicle fatal crash occurred at 7:10 a.m. Oct. 25 on County Road 54 (Honeytown Road) north of Township Road 226 (Schellin Road).
Kevin Graves, 35, of Sterling, was operating a 2010 Nissan Altima. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Wayne County Coroner’s Office. He was wearing his safety belt at the time of the crash.
Anthony Wilden, 50, of Apple Creek, was operating a 1999 Freightliner commercial tanker trailer. He was not injured in the crash. He was wearing his safety belt at the time of the crash.
Initial investigation revealed the Nissan Altima was northbound on County Road 54 and was entering the roadway from a private driveway to turn southbound on CR 54. The semitrailer had stopped to negotiate the tight left turn. Graves struck the left side of the commercial tanker trailer. Agencies assisting on scene were Central Fire Department and EMS, Wayne County Sheriff’s Department, North End Garage, Wayne County Coroner Office, and the Ohio State Highway Patrol Crash Reconstruction Unit.
This crash remains under investigation, the news release states. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in this crash.
