Hershberger, Timothy Lynn

Dalton — Timothy Lynn Hershberger, age 65 of Dalton, left his earthly body and joined his Heavenly Father on Monday, October 25, 2021, while surrounded by family, at Aultman Hospital in Canton following a courageous, month-long battle against Covid-19.
Tim was born on October 2, 1956, in Dover, Ohio, to Atlee and Janet (Musser) Hershberger and graduated from Washington High School (Massillon) in 1974 after a childhood in Kentucky, where his heart never left. He then worked in residential construction primarily as a mason for several years, and married the love of his life, Lynette Cober, on May 31, 1980, in West Milton, Ohio. He later returned to school and graduated from Malone College with a business management degree in 1993. Tim was a CPA and partner at Himes, Slater, & Hershberger where he served his clients for 32 years.
From 1986-1989, Tim and Lynette lived in Zambia, serving in the areas of finance and farming with Brethren In Christ World Missions. For decades, they were active participants at Amherst Community Church in Massillon. Since 2018 they have been active at Grace Church in Wooster, where they were involved in music ministry and small group fellowships. Tim was known for his bass voice, which was enjoyed by many, whether he was singing up in the choir or from the pews.
Tim enjoyed handyman projects, hunting, fishing, mowing the lawn, and playing the harmonica. He cherished spending time with his kids and grandchildren. One of Tim’s favorite memories and events he looked forward to each year included the annual family trip to Camp Kahquah in Magnetawan, Ontario, where many life-long friendships were established.
Tim was a friend and mentor to many. He could always find someone that he knew no matter where he went, and if by some odd chance he could not, he then found someone there to befriend.
In addition to his wife and parents, surviving are two sons, Joshua (Emily) Hershberger of Dalton, and Joel (Kirsten) Hershberger of Dalton; daughter, Danae (Caleb) Schutt of Williamson, NY; six grandchildren, Everly, Mirabel, Calvin T, Hensley, and Arlo Hershberger, and Peyton Schutt, and a baby boy due in January; three siblings, Lorraine (Jeff) Wrage, Bonnie (Rick) Mailloux, and David (Bonnie) Hershberger; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Friday, October 29, 2021, at Grace Church, 4599 Burbank Road, Wooster, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Physical distancing will be observed to protect all. Masks are appreciated.
