Roman (Shorty) S. Miller, 89, of Mt. Eaton, passed away peacefully at home on November 1, 2021.
Shorty was born December 10, 1931 to Steve and Mary Miller and married his loving wife Fran E. Troyer on December 7, 1956. He founded Millwood Lumber, Inc. in 1968 and that legacy continues on now as Millwood Lumber and Millwood Incorporated. Shorty enjoyed traveling out west, especially to the Chuck Wagon races in Arkansas. At home, on their farm, he enjoyed raising horses and Texas longhorn cattle. What Shorty loved the most was spending time with his family, he was an avid story teller and always enjoyed making people laugh. He attended Faith Family Church. A strong man of faith, Shorty would always say, “we may not know why things happen to us, but we do know that God is faithful and it will be ok.”
Along with his parents, Shorty is preceded in death by his son Doyle Miller, sisters Anna Yutzy, Alma Kaufman, Edna Mullet, Iva Miller and brothers Jake Miller and Daniel Miller.
Shorty is survived by his wife of 64 years, Fran; children Charlene (Tim) Light of Ravenna, Galen (Teresa) Miller of Mt. Eaton, Yvonne (Charles) Drennen of Mt. Eaton, Jeff (Jennifer) Miller of Bolivar, Steve (Julie) Miller of Canton and thirteen wonderful grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at Faith Family Church, 8200 Freedom Ave. NW in North Canton on Friday, November 5th. Calling hours will be from 10am to 12pm with services immediately following. A private graveside burial will be held at West Lawn Cemetery in Mt. Eaton.
