Dalton High School’s varsity boys basketball team upended host Chippewa 67-61 Dec. 3 in the 2021-22 season opener.

The Wenger brothers came out of the gates on fire. Senior Jalen Wenger guided the Dawgs with 27 points, 15 of which came from beyond the three-point arc, five rebounds and two assists. Junior Braylon Wenger nailed four triples during his 25-point performance. He also ripped four rebounds and dropped two dimes.

Junior Kyrie Gaut finished with five points, five boards and one assist. Senior Jaden Schlabach totaled three points, five rebounds and two assists. Junior Justin Basinger had two points and one rebound. Junior Quentin Lehman was a force in the paint for Dalton as he pulled down nine boards. On offense, Lehman scored five points and dished out two assists.

Central Christian School
Central Christian School dropped their home opener to Rittman 56-49 Nov. 30. Thatcher Rohrer led the Comets with 23 points. Tyler Bonner added 12 points. Caden Granger totaled eight points. Andrew Miller, Dakota Kirby and Silas Coleman all scored two points each.
CCS bounced back Dec. 3 in their 54-44 home victory over Mansfield Christian. Bonner was Central’s top scorer with 14 points. Granger added 12 points. Rohrer contributed 11 points.
Coleman totaled 10 points. Miller and Kirby combined for seven points.
