Carol A. Kauffman-Hinkel

Smithville — Carol A. Kauffman-Hinkel, age 81, of Smithville, died Saturday, January 8, 2022, at Smithville Western Care Center in Wooster, after a short period of declining health.
Carol was born on June 16, 1940, in Orrville, Ohio, to the late Ivan and Bertha (Falb) Hochstetler. She graduated from Smithville High School in 1958 She was a member of Smithville Brethren Church where she sang in the choir and served on various committees. She was a life member of the Smithville Historical Society.
Carol attended Wooster Business College and worked as a book keeper and payroll for a few companies in Wayne County. She sold tickets for the sports teams of Smithville High School for 14 years. She worked for Lerch’s donuts during the Wayne County Fair for a number of years. Carol enjoyed traveling to Tucson, AZ, to spend time with Bard and Dennis Fetter. She had many different hobbies, such as crafts, needlework, flowers, reading and gardening. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and her dogs, Princess and Missy.
Carol married Raymond Hinkel on November 17, 2018. He survives.
Surviving are daughter, Denise (Dana) Sillman of Smithville; two grandchildren, Zach (Rochelle Yoder) Sillman of Dalton, and Felicia (fiancé Lee Swauger) Sillman of Canal Fulton; three great grandchildren, Jaxon and Graydn Sillman, and Raelynn Johnston; sister, Janet (Allen) Snyder of Smithville; two nephews, Jeff (Deanna) Snyder of Wooster, and Mark (Sarah) Snyder of Wadsworth; and niece, Bethany (Jonathon) Zsoldos of Smithville.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 14, 2022, at Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville, with Pastor Art Carr officiating.
