Barbara Evelyn Barden
Rittman – Barbara Evelyn Barden , age 86, of Rittman, died Monday, February 14, 2022, at Accord Care Community in Orrville, following a short period of declining health.
Bobbie was a Polish singing, red hat wearing MorMor (grandmother), that was called home on Valentine’s Day to be one of God’s singing angels. She was loved by her family dearly and shared her faith in God with all she met. Her favorite sayings were “Working onWonderful” and Ja Cie Kocham (I love you). She will be remembered and missed by anyone that knew her.
Bobbie was born on March 29, 1935, in South Bound Brook, New Jersey, to the late Earl and Lucille (Mackiewicz) Sherwood and graduated from Roosevelt High School in Atlanta GA., North Georgia College with her Bachelors in education and receiving her Masters at the University of Akron.
She worked as a teacher for Norton City Schools for 36 years.
Bobbie was a member of City of Flags Chorus Sweet Adelines, Rittman TOPS, Wadsworth Soprema Senior Center and their drama group, Wadsworth Footlighters, Red Hat Society, Silver Sneakers, and attending church at St. Luke’s in Fairlawn and LifeSong Church in Wadsworth. She enjoyed hot air balloon chasing, singing, volunteering at Stan Hywet for Tudor time, and loved all Cleveland sports, especially the Indians.
Surviving are two daughters, Laurier (Glen) Likens of Orrville, and Malia (Rick) Gunselman of Norton; five grandchildren, Dr. Rachelle (Nick) Gunselman-McNeill of Wadsworth, Kyle (Ariella) Likens of Fort Campbell, KY, Eric Likens of Orrville, Mariah (Nate) Gunselman-Gray of Pataskala, and Madison Gunselman of Westminster, CO; great grandson, Owen McNeill.
She was preceded in death by her former husband, Daniel E. Barden.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday,March 5th at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 146 College Street, Wadsworth. All are welcome to attend.
