Joseph M. “Joe” Reikowsky
ORRVILLE — Joseph M. “Joe” Reikowsky, age 65, of Orrville, formerly of Wooster, died Monday, February 21, 2022, at Accord Care Community in Orrville, following a period of declining health.
Joe was born on April 27, 1956, in Orrville, to Henry and Geraldine (Vannoy) Reikowsky, graduated from Orrville High School in 1974, and studied at The University of Akron and Wayne College before receiving a Bachelor’s Degree from The University of New York . He worked as a social worker for several places including the Wayne County Schools Career Center in Smithville and Job Training Partnership in Wooster for a total of 25 years, retiring in 2006.
Joe attended Calvary Assembly of God in Orrville. He enjoyed volunteering for organizations in the Wayne County area, playing guitar, writing poetry and songs, woodworking, hiking, and training dogs.
Surviving are daughter, Hannah K. Reikowsky of Wooster; sister, Linda (Bob) Ballentine of Orrville; former wife, Jan Reikowsky of Wooster; and nieces and nephews, Chris (Mark Yoder) Ballentine of Dundee, Tracy (Tom) Howdershelt of Marshallville, David “Troy” (Emelyn) Stalnaker of FL, and Matt Reikowsky of GA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Edmund Reikowsky, L. Marlene Stalnaker, and David Reikowsky.
Friends may call on Thursday, February 24, 2022, at Auble Funeral Home, 512 East Oak Street, Orrville, from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, at the funeral home, with Pastor Chuck Davis officiating. Burial of ashes will take place at the Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville.
Per Joe’s wishes, memorials may be made to help defray his daughter’s college expenses written to Hannah Reikowsky and mailed to Auble Funeral Home, 512 East Oak Street, Orrville, OH 44667.
