Dalton High School’s varsity girls basketball team advanced to the district semifinal in the Division IV tournament after defeating Lake Center Christian and Open Door Christian in the sectional tournament.

The No. 3 seed Lady Dawgs topped No. 9 Lake Center Christian 74-22 in the sectional semifinal Feb. 16. Ella Lunsford sunk seven triples on her way to 27 points and four rebounds.

Kylee Johnson was also feeling strong from 3-point range as she made six baskets from beyond the arc. She finished with 20 points, one rebound and four assists. Addesa Miller contributed 14 points, three boards and seven assists. Marley Clark ended with four points, two rebounds and one assist. Da’Mareia Sampson and Ellie Miller combined for four points. Josslyn Reynolds scored three points. Mia Weaver grabbed seven boards, scored two points and dished two assists. Maddy West pulled two rebounds and dropped one dime.

Dalton took down No. 11 Open Door Christian 57-10 in the sectional final. Johnson was the Lady Dawgs’ top scorer with 16 points. Lunsford added 12 points. The Lady Dawgs will face No. 1 Cuyahoga Heights in the Division IV district semifinal Feb. 23.
