David I. Monbarren
DOYLESTOWN – David I. Monbarren, age 89, passed away on February 18, 2022.
He was born on August 6, 1932 in Massillon, OH to the late Lester M. and Jessie (Irwin) Monbarren. A 1950 graduate of Doylestown High School, and veteran of the Korean War serving with the U.S. Army, Dave was a resident of Doylestown since 1949. In his earlier years he had worked at Petit Poultry and B.F. Goodrich Co. He then took over as co-owner of Monbarren Funeral Home in 1972 until his retirement in 1995. He was an active member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and also the Doylestown American Legion Post 407, former member of the Doylestown V.F.W., and member and twice president of the Doylestown Lions Club. For 37 years, Dave also was the sexton for Chestnut Hill Cemetery in Doylestown.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Agnes in 2014; brother, Dean; brother in-law, Robert Knight. Dave is survived by his daughters, Mary Jane (Dave) Knighton, Margaret (Dave) Eisenhauer all of Doylestown; grandchildren, Patty (Hank) Anderson, Anne (Greg)Schroeder, Samantha Knighton, Jacque Soleiman, Michael Eisenhauer, Rita (Brandon) Karl, Philip (Cassie) Eisenhauer; great grandchildren, Sophia, Morgan, Alex, Evelyn, Eloise, Oliver; sister, Carol Knight of Clarksville, TN; sister-in-law, Thelma Monbarren of Cambridge, OH; nieces, nephews, many in laws, other family and friends.
The family wishes to thank Dave’s caregivers for the last seven years, Jean Holden, Carol Greer, Gail Bennett, Kendra Bennett, Dawn Rowe, Jonah Steiner, Hilary Karamas, and the staff at Summa and Crossroads Hospice and The Inn at CoalRidge.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, February 24, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 161 W. Clinton St., Doylestown, OH, 44230, with Fr. Peter Morris, Celebrant. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. Calling hours, with facial coverings requested, will be Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Zak-Thacker & Monbarren Funeral Home, 132 N.
