After winning the opening tip and immediately draining a 3-pointer, it appeared Dalton High School’s boys basketball team would be in a good position to win the Division IV district semifinal game against Cornerstone Christian Academy March 1 at Norton High School.
However, the No. 3 seed Patriots quickly built up a big lead and the No. 2 Dawgs never led following that opening possession. Cornerstone Christian won 63-56, while Dalton’s season ended with a 19-4 overall record.
“The season did not end the way any of us would have liked,” said Dalton’s head coach Kaleb Reed. “I am very proud of how hard the team fought in the second half of the Cornerstone game. The kids could have very easily given up and packed it in, but they didn’t. They continued to fight and that says a lot about their character.”
