Yoder, Crist D. E.
Crist D. E. Yoder, 87, of 10981 Harrison Road, Apple Creek, died peacefully at his home from complications of a heart attack on Wednesday, March 9, 2022.
He was born in Wayne County on August 21, 1934 to the late Dan E. and Sarah (Schlabach) Yoder and married Verna S. Keim on November 17, 1953. She died July 15, 1999. On November 3, 2001 he married Fern E. Helmuth. She died May 17, 2016.
He was a member of the Old Order Amish Church where he was ordained a deacon on October 7, 1978.
He is survived by children and their spouses, Robert (Rachel) Yoder of New York, Neva (Joe) Yoder of Apple Creek, Dan (Ella) Yoder of Michigan, Mary (Lee) Miller of Apple Creek, Laura (Raymond) Miller of the home, Eddie (Mary) Yoder of Apple Creek, Nettie (Eddie) Miller of Apple Creek, and Freeman (Marilyn) Yoder of Dundee; 49 grandchildren; 111 great grandchildren; a brother, Dan Jr. (Edna) Yoder of Juniata, PA; brothers-in-law, Wayne (Anna Marie) Helmuth, Paul (Lena) Helmuth, Glenn (Mary Alice) Helmuth and Crist (Ruth) Helmuth; sisters-in-law, Elva Helmuth, Clara Swartz, Sylvia (Delbert) Swartz and Becky Helmuth.
In addition to his parents and both of his wives, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers; 5 sisters; and 5 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 9:00 AM at the family residence with Bishop Eli Jay Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Hershberger Cemetery, Paint Township, Wayne County. Friends may call anytime at the family home. Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton is handling the arrangements.
