KILLBUCK SAVINGS BANK CO. SUPERSTAR ON STAFF: Rachel Morgan
Rachel Morgan,
Dalton Middle School intervention specialist
1. What do you love about working at Dalton Local Schools?
I love working at Dalton Local Schools because it is a true community! From the day I started working at DMS, I knew it was an exceptional group of students, parents and staff. Not only do we benefit from administrators who truly want the best for each and every student, but I get to work daily with other teachers and support staff who put students first. The students themselves are a wonderful group of young people who are kind, compassionate and empathetic. Each day, there are countless examples of the students supporting one another. It is a true blessing to work at Dalton!
2. How did you get to where you are today?
I started my teaching career in Holmes County, but after receiving my Master’s degree in Special Education and Autism Spectrum disorders, came to DMS as the Intervention Specialist for the Cross Categorical classroom. This is my ninth year in education and fourth year at Dalton. I have been influenced by many exceptional people in my life, from former students and classmates to the students I work with today. I find such joy in meeting a student at his or her level and working to unlock their full potential. One of the amazing things about my job is that I am able to blend traditional academic learning with functional life skills. This type of education will truly prepare my students for life after school.
3. Tell us one interesting little fact about yourself that people would be surprised to hear.
One thing people find interesting is that I started playing the violin when I was in 4th grade and continued through college.
