Jackson, Joan E.

ORRVILLE — Joan E. Jackson, age 94, of Orrville, died Friday, March 25, 2022, at Accord Care Community in Orrville, following a period of declining health.
Joan was born on November 1, 1927, in Massillon, to the late Ben A. and Mary “Ethel” (Harmon) Reynolds and married James L. Jackson on October 14, 1961, in Red Haw, OH. James died in the fall of 1984.
She graduated from Apple Creek High School in 1945 and worked as a clerk for Wayne County Board of Elections for 20 years, retiring in 1992.
Joan was a member of Wayne County Republican Women, Wayne County Republican Executive Committee, Wayne County Republican Central Committee, and the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church where she participated in the Alliance Women’s Group.  She was also an active supporter of the Wayne County Care Center. She loved golfing and she and her husband, Jim, achieved their goal of a golf membership in all 50 states. She will be remembered as a wonderful mother and playful grandmother and great grandmother.
Surviving are her daughter, Patty (Jim) Brown of Orrville; two grandchildren, David  Brown of Orrville and Jeni (Eric) Badertscher of Smithville; two great grandchildren, Gabbie and Henry Badertscher; step-son, Bill (Elaine) Jackson of Ft. Wayne, IN; and a niece, Tanya (Jerry) Allen.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Connie Hignight; brother, J. Robert Reynolds; and ex-husband, Lem M. Hignight.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, in the chapel at Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville, with Pastor Paul Simonsen officiating.
