DALTON Being cheerful, pleasant and quick with a smile and a compliment or two comes easy to Dalton senior Molly Soehnlen.
Easy, like Sunday morning.
Except when it comes to Wednesday.
As in, the moody – and somewhat scary – daughter of Gomez and Morticia Addams.
Dalton High School’s theatre department presents its spring musical this weekend. For the first time, the Drama Dawgs are putting on “The Addams Family: A New Musical Comedy.”
“I am just glad the students have the opportunity to perform again after having to cancel in 2020 and all the restrictions in 2021,” director Robin Evans-DelCiappo said. “Almost all of these students have never been in a full fledged musical and most have never had principal roles. They are a young bunch but are such good workers. The opportunity for the young actors and crew members to learn from the older students was lost due to COVID. It has been like starting from scratch with their education, but they have been quick learners.”
The show is at 7 p.m. April 1 and 2, and at 2 p.m. April 3.
“I enjoy the friendships I’ve developed and progressed through this show, as well as the opportunity to practice acting out of my element personality-wise,” Soehnlen said about this spring’s performance in particular. “Wednesday doesn’t act like all sunshine and rainbows.”
