KIDRON Mark your calendars for the return of the traditional Easter Egg Hunt in this community, as well as Kidron Days set for June, which is expected to be bigger than ever.
Kidron Community Council hosts the annual Easter Egg Hunt at Kidron Community Park at 1 p.m. April 23. Organizers are hoping for a warm sunny day, but it’s springtime in Ohio so if it’s pouring on April 23, a rain date will be announced. Residents are asked to follow the council’s Facebook page for updates.
As in years past, children are asked to bring their own baskets and the egg hunt will be split up into different age groups, according to Jacob Troyer, president of the Kidron Community Council.
The community event is popular and a record number of children came out last year, he said.
After the fun of filling their baskets, pizza and punch will be provided for children.
2022 Kidron Days 5K/10K
Next up for the active community council is Kidron Days June 10 and 11. The event is organized by both the Kidron Merchants Association and the Kidron Community Council.
This year’s activities will build on last year’s, and Troyer said they are hoping to continue to grow the two-day event.
The Kidron Community Council focuses on the community side while the Kidron Merchants Association helps to organize and promote sales and special events going on at Kidron businesses.
Kidron Community Council will help promote community members’ yard sales Friday and Saturday, June 10 and 11 by compiling a listing and a map. Call 330-988-8810 to have your sale included.
A 5K and 10K run beginning at 9 a.m. June 11 is scheduled. Participants will run through the Sprunger Building, 13071 Emerson Road, as part of the race. A 1-mile run may also be added as an option. Plans are being finalized for other activities including a jump house for children, as well as a benefit meal. Cost is $35 for the 5K and $45 for the 10K through June 10. The cost on race day is $40 for the 5K and $50 for the 10K. Runners are asked to sign up by May 31 to guarantee their shirt size on race day. Runners can sign up at https://registration.midohiorm.com/events/2022-kidron-days-5k10k–02012022231.
Along with prizes awarded, all participants will receive an event T-shirt as well as a finisher’s medal for completing the run.
Troyer said organizers are hammering out more details regarding Kidron Days, but people can put the dates on their calendars and begin to plan for them. He anticipates with the two organizations working alongside each other to build Kidron Days into a bigger event each year.
