No injuries were reported Tuesday afternoon from a commercial structure fire along Hackett Road between Kidron Road and Zuercher Road, according to Kidron Volunteer Fire Department Chief Jon Peters.
Workers in the building attempted to extinguish the flames themselves with fire extinguishers but were unsuccessful and called the fire department. Kidron responded at 2:50 p.m. Along with Kidron, East Wayne Fire District, Paint Township Mt. Eaton, Orrville, Apple Creek East Union Township, and South Central (Fredericksburg) responded. The business, Buckeye Dipping Solutions, was evacuated when KVFD arrived, Peters told The DGKN. He said thanks to second-alarm units, Kidron had an adequate water supply and damage was limited besides smoke damage.
He wrote in a message that it appears the fire may have begun in a dust collection system while welding on a piece of equipment.
