Pedestrian killed in hit-skip crash in Ashland County; troopers ask for public’s assistance

State troopers are asking the public’s assistance in locating a hit-skip vehicle involved in a crash Tuesday night along U.S. 42 in Milton Township, Ashland County.

The Ashland Post is investigating the fatal crash involving a pedestrian at 11:06 p.m. Tuesday. The Patrol’s Wooster Dispatch Center received a call about what was initially believed to be a single-vehicle serious injury crash in the northbound lanes of U.S. 42 near Township Road 1688, according to an OSHP media release.

Troopers arrived on scene and discovered through their investigation that Mark Ramsey, 63, of Mansfield, had been standing next to his disabled pick-up truck when he was struck by a passing northbound vehicle. The vehicle did not stop after the crash and continued northbound on U.S. 42. Ramsey was transported to Mansfield Ohio health, where he was pronounced dead.

The vehicle is possibly a silver Dodge pick-up truck, and will likely have damage to the front, right headlight assembly and passenger side-view mirror, the release states.

Troopers are asking that anyone with information contact the Ashland Patrol Post at 419-289-0911.
