Thelma M. Fahrni, 102, of Navarre, passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at The Inn at University Village.
She was born in Rio, WV on April 5, 1920 to the late Harry and Clara (Gochenour) Smith Sr. and married Victor J. Fahrni on August 19, 1950. He died October 16, 2010.
Thelma worked as a Rosie the Riveter for the Goodyear Aerospace Company and also Garver Brothers in Strasburg. She was a member of the Pythian Sisters affiliated with First Lutheran Church in Beach City and the West Lebanon United Methodist where she belonged to the Faithful Friends group.
She proudly lived independently, up until two months ago, in the house she and Vic built 70 years ago.
She is survived by children, Lynn (Gary) May of Brewster, Harold (Elaine) Fahrni of Massillon and Marcia (Chris) Craft of Dalton; grandchildren, Craig May, Dr. Elise (Dr. Paul) Kretow, Jordan (Karli) Fahrni and Lt. Col. Eric (Jessica) Craft, USAF; great grandchildren, Ryann, Elliott and Anders Kretow, Audrey and Henry Craft and Olivia and Liam Fahrni.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Harry and Herman Smith; and a sister, Ivy Martin.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am at the West Lebanon United Methodist Church with Pastor Ruthann Bosley officiating. Burial will follow in the South Lawn Cemetery in Beach City. Friends may call on Friday from 5-7 PM at the Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Wilderness Center.
