What do you love about working at Dalton Local Schools?
There are so many things I love about teaching in Dalton Schools. One thing is definitely the staff members. I love working with them every day. All of us work tirelessly to help each and every student learn, achieve, and be the best they can be. The community and parents always provide so much support to our schools, they help make Dalton/Kidron a wonderful place. I have had the privilege of my three sons attending Dalton Schools too. They thrived, excelled, played sports, made great memories and have lots of lasting friendships. And then of course, the best part of my job is all the amazing students I have had the joy to teach.

How did you get to where you are today?
I received my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Asbury College in KY. I got my master’s degree in Educational Administration from Akron University. I have been teaching a total of 36 years, two years as a substitute teacher, and 34 years here at Dalton Elementary. I have taught many different grades: a 2/3 gifted split class, a 1/2 split class, 1st grade, 2nd grade, 4th grade, and one year as a Science teacher in 5th grade. Most of my years teaching have been spent in 2nd and 4th grades.

Tell us one interesting little fact about yourself that people would be surprised to hear.
I don’t like to go shopping, especially buying clothes. I’d rather keep wearing my old stuff. Now Amazon shopping is a different story, but not for clothing. Also, my mother, Carolyn Geiser Keplar, was a proud Dalton graduate from 1956. I still have her class ring, pendant necklace, some yearbooks, and her orange class sweater with the big #56 sewn on the pocket.
