STUDENT SUCCESSES: Dalton grad honored as Top 10 University of Akron senior

Hannah Curtis, a 2019 Dalton High School graduate was recognized this spring as a 2022 Top 10 graduating senior at University of Akron.

She also was selected as a 2022 Williams Honors College Top 10 student.

According to a post by the Department of Student Life on Instagram, Curtis, who is an anthropology and history major, has been actively involved in the Department of Residence Life and Housing serving as a desk manager, resident assistant, and participating as an Emerging Leader, and a member of NRHH and Sigma Lambda.

Among her long list of involvement, she has completed a variety of research at the Zooarchaeology Field School at the University of Utah and Archaeological Field School at UA.

According to her recommender, “I cannot begin to describe what a motivational force she is. She is conscientious and detail-oriented, yet enthusiastic. She is very intelligent but does not flaunt it. She is by far the best student organizer I have worked with in nearly 30 years of full-time teaching.” Another recommender states: “Her high academic achievements, outstanding leadership, and substantial volunteering efforts on campus attest to both her deep commitment to scholastic excellence and to building community.”

Curtis is president of both Anthropology Club and Phi Alpha Theta, she is involved in the Zips Recruiting Club, UA Ambassadors and Bridge the Gap tutor.
