Wooster — John M. Beswetherick , age 85, of Orrville, died Monday, July 4, 2022, at Wooster Community Hospital in Wooster, following a long period of declining health.
John was born on July 17, 1936, in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, to the late George and Alice (Garlock) Beswetherick, graduated from Orrville High School in 1954, and served in the United States Marines Corps. He married Norma J. Fate on March 18, 1967, in Cuyahoga Falls. Norma died on September 28, 2000.
He worked as a Manager of Production for Chrysler in Twinsburg for 30 years and then was an owner operator for Aaron Corporation and H.F. Hauling.
John was a member of Christ United Church of Christ, American Legion Post 282 in Orrville, and the Boy’s Village in Wooster, where he was recently inducted into the Hall of Fame. He enjoyed watching all sports, and was a big Orrville Red Riders fan, he was very involved in the Amish community, where in his retirement he helped doing work with them and transport them.
Surviving are two sons, Duane Thomas of Dayton, and Michael Thomas of New Philadelphia; three daughters, Cheryl Thomas of Akron, Julie (Rick) Tenney of Akron, and Lenora (Leonard) Carpenter of Uhrichsville; brother, Joel (Bea) Beswetherick of Cuyahoga Falls; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; niece, Marie (and her son Chase) Arbogast of Cuyahoga Falls; and sister-in-law, Carrene Biebighauser of Orrville, OH.
In addiation to his wife, Norma, he was proceeded in death by sisters, Ruth Little, and Dorothy Beswetherick; brothers, Durwin Beswetherick, and James Beswetherick.
Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, July, 11, 2022 at Crown Hill Cemetery’s Chapel, 1729 West High Street, Orrville, with Rev. Brian Burke officiating. Burial will take place at the Crown Hill Cemetery, where military rites will be observed.
