Beyler, Maribel

Wooster — Maribel Beyler, age 83, of Wooster, passed away Monday, August 1, 2022, at her residence in Wooster, following a period of declining health.
Maribel was born on September 6, 1938, in Akron, Ohio, to the late Elmer and Mabel (Burkholder) Beyler and graduated from Orrville High School. She continued her education at Goshen College where she earned a B.S. in Elementary Education and later a Masters in Social Work from the University of Michigan.
She taught in the elementary grades in Doylestown, Orrville, and Triway Public Schools. Her employment as a social worker in Youngstown included child and family therapy.
The two years Maribel spent in the Peace Corps in Sierra Leone, West Africa were enriching years and she enjoyed traveling in various African and European countries. Maribel’s faith in Christ sustained her throughout her life. She was a member of Oak Grove Mennonite Church and enjoyed contributing through various ministries of the church. In retirement she traveled to a number of different U.S. locations to volunteer under the auspices of her church denomination.
Surviving are two step-sisters, Joanne (Ronald) Murray, and Dorothy Beichler; two brother-in-laws, Paul Klassen, and Howard Schrock; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sister, Willeane Schrock; and step-sisters, Evelyn Medonia and Lavonne Klassen.
Friends may call on Monday, August 8, 2022, at Oak Grove Mennonite Church, 7843 Smucker Road, Smithville, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm or on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at the church, from 10:00 am to 10:45 am.
Services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, at the church, with Pastor Douglas Zehr officiating. Burial will take place at the Oak Grove Mennonite Cemetery in Smithville.
