Dalton girls cross country 2nd at invites; Waynedale girls place first at Smithville Invitational

Dalton High School’s girls varsity cross country team came in second place at the Smithville and Dover meets.

Dalton High School’s varsity cross country teams competed in the Smithville and Dover Invitationals with Dalton’s girls taking second place in the team results for both meets.

The Smithville Invitational was Sept. 6. Waynedale placed first in the girls team results, with Dalton taking the second spot. Barberton finished in third place and Northwestern came in fourth. Emberlynn Nolt was Dalton’s top finisher in the individual results as she placed third overall with a time of 21:35.20. Ava Fivecoat finished ninth place at 23:32.70. Analeia Hershberger (24:14.40), Myah Lehman (24:14.60), Mackenna Thiel (24:23.60) and Kendal Nussbaum (24:48.10) crossed the finish in a pack for 15th-18th place.

On the boys side, Smithville won the team race, followed by Waynedale in second place, Northwestern in third, United in fourth and Dalton in fifth. Caleb Hofstetter finished in 11th for Dalton in the individual standings with a time of 19:26.10. Jacob Fink (20:22.40) came in 18th place with teammate Ely Hutson (20:24.60) right behind him in 19th place.

Dalton competed in the Dover Invitational Sept. 10. Tusky Valley won the girls team results. Dalton finished in second place. Canton Central Catholic, Springfield and Claymont rounded out the top five. Nolt finished second overall in the individual results with a time of 22:15.09. Hershberger came in 10th at 24:16.03. Fivecoat was the 15th place finisher with a time of 24:44.09. Thiel came in at 25:00.00 to finished in 20th place.
Hofstetter placed 21st in the boys individual race at 20:43.07. Fink finished 30th with a time of 21:22.03.
