DALTON CROSS COUNTRY UPDATE: Middle, high school Dawgs have strong finish at Mapleton

Dalton High School’s cross country teams had strong finishes at the Mapleton Invitational Oct. 1. Both the girls and boys teams placed in the top five in their final meet before the WCAL Championship Oct. 8.

For the girls team race, West Holmes took the top spot, with Fredericktown in second and Dalton in third. Mapleton finished fourth and Loudonville completed the top five. Emberlynn Nolt finished 3rd overall in the individual standings with a time of 20:04.51. Samantha Thiel came in 8th at 21:16.44. Analeia Hershberger was 15th at 22:00.42. Mackenna Thiel was close behind in 17th place with a time of 22:09.07. Brianna Chenevey was next in 18th place at 22:09.95. Ava Fivecoat (22:42.56) placed 24th and Myah Lehman (22:57.41) was 25th. Janae Hostetler came in 34th place with a time of 23:29.08. Kendal Nussbaum finished 36th at 24:06.47. Jordan Nussbaum placed 53rd with a time of 25:44.25. Rachel Wertz was 73rd with a time of 31:55.99.

In the boys team standings, Fredericktown came in first, West Holmes finished second, Mapleton took third place, Keystone was fourth and Dalton rounded out the top five. Carson Steiner was 5th overall with a time of 17:25.99. Caleb Hofstetter came in 17th place at 18:14.95. Ely Hutson was 21st at 18:28.81. Judah Hershberger was in 25th place at 18:59.53. Jacob Fink finished 41st with a time of 19:56.55. Isaac Himes was 45th at 20:10.45. Brandon Steiner was 53rd with a time of 20:30.48. Kaydin Fone finished 78th with a time of 23:08.82. Tristan Turner came in 83rd at 23:55.76. Nolan Miller placed 90th with a time of 27:00.99.
