Unidentified pedestrian killed in crash in Wooster Township

WOOSTER  TWP.  Troopers from the Wooster Post of the Ohio Highway Patrol are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred just before 6 a.m. Oct. 16 on State Route 3, north of Heyl Road.

An unidentified white male, approximately 30 years old, wearing a red hooded sweatshirt and black sweat pants, was walking north in the left, northbound lane, according to an OSHP news release. A white 2014 Chevy Equinox driven by a Wooster woman was northbound on SR 3 and struck the pedestrian. The pedestrian went off the west side of the road and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Chevy was not injured in the crash.

State Route 3 was partially closed for the investigation. The unidentified male was taken by Wooster Township EMS to the Wayne County Morgue.

The crash remains under investigation.

    Did they ever find out who this young man was? This has been terribly heartbreaking to know that he is unclaimed.

      We checked with Ohio Highway Patrol Oct. 18 and they have not identified him yet.

    Yeah I’ve been trying to find information out on this because my nephew’s been missing since Friday at midnight my nephew is 37 years old was there a red Impala anywhere around or a small dairy or dog terrier dog he’s not been home can’t find him any information like any like tattoos anything like that

      The DGKN checked with Ohio Highway Patrol Oct. 18 and we were told he has not been identified yet. If you haven’t yet, you may want to contact Ohio Highway Patrol with this information and we were also told that you could contact the coroner’s office.

    His name was Kelby Britenbucher. He will be missed very much.
