Earl M. Adkins

MASSILLON – Earl M. Adkins, age 96, went to heaven for his well earned rest on October 20, 2022.

Born on October 14, 1926 in Cameo, WV to the late Roma M. and Minnie Lee (Hager) Adkins, Earl had been a resident of Massillon for over 30 years, formerly of Dalton.

He married Betty McGuire in Comfort, WV on March 18, 1950.  They shared more than 50 years together and raised five children.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time with family and friends.  He was a good husband, a good father, and a good man.  Earl was strong in his Christian faith.  After working for Kanawha Manufacturing, he moved to Ohio in 1952 to work as a millwright for Republic Steel, where he worked for more than 30 years.  Earl was a member of the West Salem Baptist Church and enjoyed listening to Bluegrass music.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Betty in 2000; grandson, Robert Earl Adkins, infant twins, an infant brother; sister, Nayden Setliff; and half-brother, Brady Dickerson.  Earl is survived by his children, James (Susan) Adkins of Orrville, OH, Martin Lee (Nancy) Adkins of West Salem, Anna Faye (Bob) Peters of Canal Fulton, Isalene Adkins of Massillon, and Delta Mae (Michael) Epley of Massillon; six grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and special niece, Dania Stangelo.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. at Zak-Thacker & Monbarren Funeral Home, 29 E. Main St., Dalton, OH 44618 with Pastor Jerry Arrman, officiating.  Burial will be at Dalton Cemetery.
