Mr. Miller creates a positive relationship with his students at DMS. Many of them look at him as a trusted adult in our building. We appreciate his hard work and his commitment to Dalton Local Schools.
1. What do you love about working at Dalton Local Schools?
The tremendous support we have from parents and the community. Dalton Middle School is an extremely positive environment to work in. Everyone that works in the building truly cares about kids. One of my favorite things about teaching is getting to watch the students change and grow as students and people. Although it makes me feel old, it is great to see students become adults that pursue their passions and become successful in whatever they choose to do.
2. How did you get to where you are today?
I have been teaching for 23 years and 20 of them have been here at Dalton Local Schools. My inspiration for teaching was always my mom, and I actually had the opportunity to teach with her when I was at Kidron. When I was growing up she was always my biggest influence. She passed away five years ago, but my memories of her continue to influence my life and the lives of everyone in my family.
3. Tell us an interesting fact about yourself that people would be surprised to hear.
Over the years I have worked with local youth groups and I have had the opportunity to go on a wide range of mission trips and have been to many church conferences. I actually have been to many different countries like Jamaica, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Mexico, Kosovo, Albania, Montenegro, and Greece. In the United States I have had the opportunity to do mission work in different parts of Ohio, West Virginia, and Indiana. One more thing that some people don’t know is that I drive bus, but not just for Dalton Local Schools, I also drive charter buses in the summer and once in awhile during the school year.
