Kent W. Eberly, 60

Orrville — Kent W. Eberly, age 60, of Orrville, passed away Thursday evening, November 17, 2022, at Akron General Medical Center, following a recent stroke.
Kent was born on October 5, 1962, in Orrville, Ohio, to Roger and Ruth (Shifferly) Eberly and married Cathy Curie in 1985 in Orrville, and they have been happily married for the last 37 years.
He graduated from Orrville High School with the class of 1981. He spent much of his early adulthood owning and operating Backyard Structures, Inc., where he, along with his wife, sold outdoor products across the country. In 2005, he began working as a machine operator for Bekaert in Orrville, and was still currently employed with them.
Kent loved buying and selling equipment, and spent much of his free time going to auctions and flea markets trying to find good deals, and spending time with his friends at those auctions. He enjoyed playing poker, barbecuing and having get-togethers, but most of all he loved spending time with his family.
Surviving are his wife, Cathy Eberly of Orrville; son, Darren Eberly of Orrville; mother, Ruth Eberly, of Orrville; two brothers, Brian (Jennifer) Eberly, and Scott Eberly, both of FL; sister, Karen (Dane Johnston) Eberly of Orrville; many nieces and nephews; several very special great nieces and nephews; and numerous great friends that were like brothers to him.
He was preceded in death by his son, Drew Eberly, and his father, Roger Eberly.
Per Kent’s wishes, cremation will take place. There will be BBQ’s held in his honor in the spring that all are welcome to attend and celebrate his life.
Instead of flowers or contributions, go to an auction, play some poker, or BBQ with your friends and family. Do the things that Kent would love to honor him. Also, PAY-IT-FORWARD to someone!  He was such a giver and was always there when someone needed something. Every person who knew him probably owes him one pay-it-forward for something he did for them.
Auble Funeral Home in Orrville is handling the arrangements. Online registry and expressions of condolence may be made at www.aublefuneralhome.com.
