Why do you love working at Dalton Local Schools?
The friendly staff, high academic standards and supportive community. Most of all, I enjoy working with the students and seeing them grow and realize their potential.
How did you get where you are today?
I come from a long line of teachers including my grandparents and my mother so education has always been valued in my family. I graduated with my K-8 degree in Education from Malone College and started my career at Lake Local Schools as both a Kindergarten and 1st Grade teacher for a total of 4 years. After this, I was blessed to stay home with my 3 children for many years while tutoring, homeschooling, and giving piano lessons. Eventually, I returned to the public schools as a Title 1 tutor in both Strasburg and now at Dalton Middle School for the past 4 years. The person that has influenced me the most is my mother, Joette McCaw. She was a devoted elementary school teacher for 30 years and was passionate about her job and the opportunity she had to make a difference in the lives of her students. Her example and continued support inspires me to do the same with the students I am privileged to work with each day.
What’s an interesting fact about you?
I volunteer as a Client Advocate at the Canton Pregnancy and Parenting Center where I meet with young parents who need encouragement, resources and parenting assistance.
