Nightmare Before Christmas

No action was taken at a council meeting Dec. 19 regarding fire and rescue service in the village of Dalton. The Dalton community representative on the East Wayne Fire District board resigned publicly. In response to that, Dalton Village Council rep was told by legal counsel not to attend EWFD’s next meeting. Marshallville’s mayor spoke up with questions. Council members requested more time to look over a contract with North Lawrence Fire Department. Here are three of the options Dalton Village Council is considering and they will have another public meeting this Thursday night.

DGKN READER POLL: Put down the phone What do you think about the new law that went into effect April 4 requiring drivers on Ohio roads to put down their cellphones and other electronic devices with exceptions such as an emergency, navigation services, and using your phone near your ear for a call.

This in my opinion is the best way. Does anyone really believe that spending $286,000
for 12 months protection from a fire department in another county is fiscally responsible?? Dalton residents as well as Marshallville’s deserve better! Two simple examples… Dalton has fine schools less than a minute from their excising fire station. Also Route 94 and Route 30 have seen countless accidents as well as the Route 30 corridor through Dalton. My point being folks is that precious time will be lost and in an emergency incident TIME is of the essence! As a result life’s and property could hang in the balance. As a former firefighter lieutenant for a number of years I can assure you that these facts are true with little room for debate. By no means is this comment towards another community fire department. I believe that all fire departments are dedicated to their communities they serve. I know without doubt that the men and women serving Dalton and Marshallville fire and rescue are 110 percent dedicated to serving their communities in saving life and property. The E.W.F.D. deserves our community as well as Political support and commitment to make our families and friends safe as they have always strived for. Thank you very much Sincerely, Richard A Peters

These idiots running the Village of Dalton need to be investigated by the State Attorney General on charges of attempting to dismantle a public safety agency without official reason and jeopardizing the well being and safety of the residents and visitors of the Village of Dalton. They’re nothing but Democrats or corrupt establishment power-hungry pukes! GET THEM OUT OF OFFICE! THEY DON’T CARE ABOUT YOU, EVER!
