Reason for selection:
Our District is truly blessed to have Aleah Neuenschwander as our Athletic Director. She has such care and compassion for our student-athletes to be sure they are well taken care of when there is an injury. Athletics is a very important part of our students’ day and Aleah takes time to work with everyone who needs her support. Whenever there is an emergency situation, Aleah is quick to react with the poise, confidence, and the skills necessary to support our student-athletes!
1. What do you love about working at Dalton Local Schools?
What I enjoy most about working at Dalton is getting to know our student athletes. Unfortunately, many students only get to spend time with me because they have been injured, but I truly enjoy the opportunities to help someone on their journey towards recovery, reaching their athletic goals, and learning about the interests they pursue that are not sports related. I have also loved time spent with student helpers through the years who have volunteered many hours to help me with tedious tasks around the training room and through the football seasons!!
2. How did you get to where you are today?
The road to Dalton began at Kent State University where I completed a Bachelor’s of Science with Major in Athletic Training in 2006. This included time spent with various athletic teams at the university as well as internships at therapy clinics and high schools. An internship I completed at St. Vincent St. Mary High School with Athletic Trainer Brian Knight helped me realize that a high school setting would be a great place to enjoy practicing as an Athletic Trainer. In May of 2006 I moved into the Dalton school district after marrying my husband Kent, a Dalton alumni, which made Dalton Local Schools a perfect place to begin pursuing my career. I began working at Dalton as the Athletic Trainer in 2007 to present.
3. Tell us an interesting fact about yourself that people would be surprised to hear.
When I am away from work, I spend time at home raising as much of our own food as I can manage in several large vegetable gardens and berry patches…I’m still working at convincing my two children that this is fun work!
