Meetings to gather input on transportation needs

Meetings are taking place next week in eastern Wayne County to spread the word about Wayne County Transit services available to the public and gather information about residents’ transportation needs.

Community residents, leaders, private nonprofit agencies, and private for-profit transportation providers are all welcome to provide feedback and learn about services many still do not know about, according to Janet Conrad, mobility manager for Community Action Wayne/Medina.

“Many still do not know about the door-to-door prescheduled trips for registrants of the program,” Conrad said in an email. “Rides are only $2.50 each way, so a trip to Wooster is only $5, definitely less than the cost of driving.”

The public is invited to express transportation needs and gaps of service within their respective communities. Compelling requests will be included in the 2024 Wayne County Locally Coordinated Transportation Plan (WCLCTP). CAWM is host of the Wayne County Mobility Management Program. An annual WCLCTP submittal is required by the Ohio Department of Transportation to be recipients of public transportation funds.

Meetings are an important part of the process, Conrad said.

“Come prepared to participate, ask questions, learn the footprint of current services with suggestions for future development,” the news release states.
