Why do you love working at Dalton Local Schools?
This is my first year teaching and my first year at Dalton, and I couldn’t be happier. Coming from a large district where class sizes were huge, the smaller class sizes at Dalton have been a refreshing change. The tight-knit community here feels like a big family, and I feel blessed to be able to make a positive impact on the lives of my students and help shape their futures.

How did you get where you are today?
My journey to becoming a teacher was not a straightforward one. I initially attended college to become a nurse but soon realized that I was drawn more to Public Health and disease prevention. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Public Health and working in the healthcare field, I realized that my true passion was in education and helping adolescents reach their full potential. So, I made the risky decision to change my career path, quit my job, and pursue a second degree in education.
While attending school again, I took on a job as a full-time nanny for a family of three. This opportunity gave me invaluable insight into how children learn, how to handle emotions, and how to build positive relationships with them. Now that I am teaching, I am both nervous and excited, but I am determined to create a positive learning environment for my students and inspire them to reach their full potential.
My passion for teaching comes from my mother, who is my inspiration. She stayed home with my brother and me when we were young, but when we were both in school full-time, she decided to go back to work as a substitute teacher. Watching her work at the school and helping her with tasks like erasing boards, setting up materials, and grading papers made me realize I loved teaching. I also enjoyed playing school anytime I got with my friends and always begged my mom to buy the workbooks for school at the store. Of course, I was always the teacher.

What’s an interesting fact about you?
An interesting fact about myself is that I have a passion for photography. During summers and my free time, you will find me at weddings taking pictures of couples. Wedding photography is my favorite because there is always delicious food, cake, and dancing!
