Bennie Staley, 85

Orrville — Bennie Staley, age 85, of Orrville, passed away Friday, March 3, 2023, at his home in Orrville, following a period of declining health.

Bennie was born on September 15, 1937, in West Virginia, to the late Earl and Myrtle (Tucker) Staley and attended Spencer High School.  He married Dorothy M. Easterday on December 7, 1963, in Rittman. Dorothy passed away on January 6, 1999.

He worked as a jelly maker for J.M. Smucker Company for 40 years, retiring in 1999.

Bennie enjoyed going to flee markets and Amish stores and working around the house. He loved farming at his parents’ property in Spence OH. Most of all Bennie cherished spending time with family.

Surviving are two sons, Joe Staley and John (Shelley) Staley both of Orrville; two grandchildren, Steven (Nerissa) Staley of Sugar Creek, and Aarica (Sammy) Veemara of Orrville; 4 great grandchildren; significant other of 21 years, Mary Smith of Fredericksburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by his siblings, Richard Staley, Ruth Hayes, and Betty Pitts.

Friends may call on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at Auble Funeral Home, 512 East Oak Street, Orrville, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

Services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, at the funeral home, with Pastor Don E. Bolich officiating. Burial will take place at the Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville.
