ORRVILLE — James Charles Simpson, age 65, of Orrville, died Sunday, March 26, 2023, at Wooster Community Hospital in Wooster, following a short period of declining health.
James was born on June 24, 1957, in Akron, to the late Bishop Charles and Eloise (Hightower) Simpson and attended Garfield High School in Akron.
He worked in several occupations, most recently working as a laborer for Quality Castings in Orrville for the last 12 years.
James enjoyed watching westerns, and playing Checkers and Horse Shoes. He loved the Las Vegas Raiders and visiting friends and family.
Surviving are his companion of over 50 years, Darlene Winters of Orrville; two daughters, Shagala Simpson of Orrville and Eboni Simpson of Mansfield; son, James Cedric Simpson of Orrville; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; four siblings, Shari (Damon) Shuler, David Simpson, Patricia Holyfield, and Kenneth (Terri) Simpson, all of Akron; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Terrel Grady Scott; and a sister, Joyce Simpson.
Friends may call on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at Auble Funeral Home, 512 East Oak Street, Orrville, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.
Services will follow at 1:00 pm on Saturday, at the funeral home, with Pastor Jessalyn Cannon officiating.
