John Charles Woodruff, 71

ORRVILLE — John Charles Woodruff, age 71, of Orrville, formerly of Dalton, died Tuesday, March 28, 2023, following injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

John was born on February 16, 1952 in Orrville to the late Charles Thomas and Ethel Mae (Marty) Woodruff. He graduated from Dalton High School in 1970, and attended Kent State University. He married Laura Lynn Wagner on February 25th, 2010 in Dalton.

He was a truck driver for 36 years and a member of the Teamsters Union. Most recently, he worked in maintenance for the Hampton Inn in Massillon.

John enjoyed watching his favorite television shows, but he will be remembered most for his big heart and his love for helping others.

He is survived by his wife, Laura Woodruff of Orrville; five children, Jesse (Angela) Woodruff of MI, Justin Woodruff of Portage Lakes, Stephen McCabe of Orrville, Christine McCabe of NJ and Christopher Ritoch of MO; two brothers, Robert (Diane) Woodruff and Francis (Linda) Woodruff, both of Dalton; brother-in-law, Don Gerber of Dalton; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Pam Gerber.

A celebration of life gathering will be held from 2-6 p.m. on Saturday, May 6th, at Pleasant View Mennonite Church, 14795 Wooster St. NW,  North Lawrence.
