1. What do you love about working at Dalton Local Schools?

Dalton is such a special school district and I am honored to be a part of it! It is a pleasure working with the students and staff every day. The staff is helpful and supportive of one another, and is dedicated to meet the needs of our students and help students achieve success. I am blessed to work with the best Title team and First grade team of teachers! It is a joy working with first graders and witnessing their excitement to learn.
My husband and I have three girls, Gretta in 7th grade, and twins Janie and Josie in 4th grade, and I love being able to teach in the same school where they attend.

2. How did you get to where you are today?

As a little girl, I always dreamed of becoming a teacher and a stay-at-home mom, and I am blessed to have both of those dreams come true! After my oldest daughter was born, I stepped away from teaching to stay home with my children. During this time, I volunteered at Dalton Elementary and I got to know the district and the staff. I began substitute teaching at Dalton after my twins began school. I had the opportunity to fill in for Mrs. Kelly Wenger in first grade during the year Dalton offered remote learning, and then I was offered a position as the first grade Title teacher. I love getting to know all the first graders, and I especially enjoy the more focused time I get to spend working on reading with my students in smaller group settings. It is rewarding to see my students learn and progress throughout the year.

3. Share an interesting fact about yourself that people may be surprised to hear.

My parents taught me to be kind and helpful to others because you never know what they are going through. I have grown my hair long and donated it four times. My donations have ranged from 8-12 inches each time. All three of my girls became interested in donating their hair too, and it has been a neat experience growing our hair out and donating it together. Together we have made a total of 10 donations, with a total of around 90 inches of hair! We have donated to Children With Hair Loss and Wigs for Kids. We have enjoyed the excitement and anticipation of getting a big haircut and a new hairdo, and it has been rewarding knowing our hair donations have gone to people who have this need.
