1. What do you love about working at Dalton Local?
I am blessed to be a part of the family at Dalton Elementary. First and foremost are the children. I am in a unique position where I am able to participate with an elite group of individuals who strive to help our students become successful. I take pride in the fact that we are always stretching to enhance our instruction and use the most current scientific research to that end, specifically the science of reading. I love that I am given the resources and the relationships to be successful. Every Teacher Based Team meeting is closed with, “What can I do for you?” and we would all be there to help one another without hesitation.
2. How did you get to where you are today?
I graduated from Mount Vernon Nazarene University in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science in Education. This is my third year working with the second-grade team as a Title I teacher. My parents gave me the confidence to pursue my dreams but my four adult children gave me the dream. I enjoyed volunteering in their classrooms and being a part of their school activities so I pursued a degree in teaching. I am so thankful for the opportunity to help students learn to read.
3. Please share an interesting little known fact about yourself:
I worked as a legal secretary for several years in downtown Cleveland. The attorney would dictate letters and pleadings to me and I would take it down in shorthand and transcribe it for his review.
