Joy L. Becker, 64
Orrville — Joy L. Becker, age 64, of Orrville, formerly of Urbana, IL, died Monday, May 15, 2023, at LifeCare Hospice in Wooster, following a period of declining health.
Joy was born on July 22, 1958, in Barnesville, Ohio, to the late Edmond and Charlotte (Haslam) Friesel and attended Tuslaw High School. She worked as a Certified Nurse’s Aide for Carle Hospital in Urbana, IL and then the VA Hospital in Danville, IL for 19 years, retiring in 2020.
Joy was a member of Grace Cathedral in Cuyahoga Falls. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are her best friend, Jonathan Gibbs of Orrville; five children, Patricia Becker of Orrville, Shannon (Shawn) Champer of Orrville, Jeremy Becker of New Franklin, Joshua (Theresa) Becker of Orrville, and Janee (Nevada) Hickson of Orrville; grandchildren, Aubrey, Trent, Seth, Tobi, Lillian, Alexandria, Zayne and Jacklynn; grandchildren, Carter, Amiah and Isaiah; many extended grandchildren and great grandchildren; seven siblings, Mary “Jane” Mick of Wilmington, NC, Lorinda “Sue” (Charles) Gilmore of Marshallville, Dena Maxwell of Lisbon, Paula Kasserman of Rittman, Peggy (William “Randy”) Friesel of Rittman, Peter Friesel of Dalton, and Lurrie “Missy” Friesel of Millbersburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Anthony Becker; and brothers, Randy Gene, Mark, Edward Dean, and Paul E. Friesel.
Friends may call on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at Auble Funeral Home, 512 East Oak Street, Orrville, from 10:00 am to 11:30 am.
Services will follow at 12:00 pm on Saturday, at Auble Funeral Home, with Pastor Steve Millar officiating. Burial will take place at the Hillside Memorial Park in Akron.
