James Robert “Bob” Lemon, 89

Dalton, OH – James Robert “Bob” Lemon, age 89, of Dalton, Ohio, and formerly of Beaver, Ohio, died in the early morning of May 19, 2023, at his home in Heritage Green.
Bob was born September 2, 1933, in Paint Valley, just outside of Millersburg in Holmes County, Ohio, to the late Harvey “Jim” and Mabel Rosalie (Coleman) Lemon.  He married Dorcas Laverne Kandel on June 26, 1954, at Martins Mennonite Church in Orrville; she preceded him in death on February 1, 2021.
Bob’s family moved often throughout his growing up years and during his senior year in high school, he found that the Bible, a Gideon New Testament, pointed the way to Jesus and a new life for a lonely and lost young man.  By faith, Bob believed Jesus to be Son of God and Savior, received Jesus as Lord of his life, and found new life, eternal purpose, and everlasting hope.
Through life, Bob never got over the Biblical truth that salvation was a free gift from God and that by believing in Jesus, the penalty of his sin was paid, and everlasting life given.  Their grave stone proclaims ‘Lift your glad voices in triumph on high for Jesus has risen and man shall not die’   Bob is alive, and has an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that does not fade away.
In late December of 1967, Bob resigned from twelve years and his work at the Will-Burt Company and the Lemon family of six moved to Beaver, Ohio.  In God’s tender mercy God made Bob a partaker of divine grace and called Bob to care for and shepherd one of His choice flocks, the Owl Creek Mennonite Church, now the Lighthouse.  He preached his final sermon almost thirty years later on November 24, 1996.
Bob was a member of Martins Mennonite Church and later attended Kidron Mennonite Church after moving back to Wayne County.  Bob helped with the Heritage Green Condominium Association and volunteered at MCC.
Surviving are two sons, Robert (Anita) Lemon of Worden, Illinois, and Michael (Sherri) Lemon of Apple Creek; two daughters, Julia (Darrel) Shoup of Orrville, and Joann (Rodney) Bapst of Lucasville, Ohio; 9 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and brothers, John and Don.  He was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl and Tom.
A service of worship with Pastor Robert Lemon will be held at Martins Mennonite Church, on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at 11:00 am following a private burial at Martins Mennonite Cemetery.  A private viewing is being held for the immediate family.
