DALTON A familiar face in the board offices, in the hallways, in the classrooms, at games, concerts and other school and community functions, Dalton Local Schools Superintendent Jim Saxer will be resigning from the top spot at Dalton Local Schools this summer.
Saxer, who was originally hired in 2015 as superintendent, has accepted a position at Tri-County Educational Service Center.
The Dalton Local Board of Education approved to accept Saxer’s resignation Monday at a special board meeting. Four board members approved and board member Lisa Gwin was absent.
A resolution states that Saxer has accepted a position for the 2023-2024 school year at the Tri-County Educational Service Center. He resigns effective July 31 and the board approved to accept the resignation upon receipt.
The board also approved a resolution to appoint an interim superintendent as required by law. Scott Beatty will serve as interim superintendent. Beatty is a consultant for the Tri-County ESC and he also served as superintendent at Dalton Local before accepting a position as superintendent at Perry Local Schools.
