Magaleen “Maggie” (Westmoreland) McDonald Bryant
WOOSTER — Magaleen “Maggie” (Westmoreland) McDonald Bryant, age 95, of Wooster, passed away Monday, June 19, 2023, at The Avenue at Wooster, following a period of declining health.
Maggie was born on December 4, 1927, in Prospect, Tennessee, to the late Jordan and Emma (McWilliams) Westmoreland. She married George Bryant in August of 1975, in Orrville. George passed away in January of 1999.
She worked as a housekeeper for Dunlap Memorial Hospital in Orrville for over 30 years.
Maggie was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Wooster, where she was a missionary, taught Sunday School, and sang in the choir. She was also a former active member of First Baptist Church in Orrville. Maggie enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, cooking, and gardening. She could be found playing BINGO, watching game shows, and working on her word puzzles. Most of all she cherished spending time with her family.
Surviving are five children, Barabara J. (John) Waller of Orrville, William Curtis Kirby (Julia) McDonald of Brighton, CO, Jaqualine G. Harris of Orrville, Peggy A. McDonald of Orrville, and Darrell Keith (Alicia) McDonald Sr. of Orrville; step-daughter, Jacquelyn (Roosevelt) Scott of FL; grandchildren, Vince (Liza) Waller, Steve (Terri) Waller, Stacey (Mark) Wolf, Tanya Evette McDonald, Keith McDonald, Tammy K. (Ernie McNeal) McDonald, Tumeka S. Harris, Briana (Sam) Francois, Tiffany M. Tyler, Andre (Angela) Johnson, D.K. (Kayla) McDonald, Stephanie Scott, and Janelle (Benjamin Deeg) Scott, # great grandchildren; # great-great grandchildren; sister, Mattie DeHart of Orrville; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends; mission friends, Carolyn Ray, Carolyn Jefferson, Cheryl Goff, and Bev Slaughter; and a very special niece, Vicki Cross-Jackson. She will also be remembered as “Mother” and “Granny” to many more than can be listed.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by daughter, Ruby Dean McDonald; four brothers; three sisters; an infant sibling; special friend, Clarence Mason; and her dog, Fabulous.
Friends may call on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at First Baptist Church, 12720 Burton City Road, Orrville, from 10:00 am to 11:15 am.
Services will follow at 11:30 am Wednesday, at the church, with Pastors Rickey Brown Sr., Arthur Ruffin, and D.K. McDonald officiating. Burial will take place at the Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville.
