Billie Rae Bottomley, 86

WOOSTER — Billie Rae Bottomley, age 86, of Wooster, formerly of Orrville, died Monday, July 31, 2023, at LifeCare Hospice in Wooster, following a short period of declining health.
Billie was born on July 31, 1937, in Lawrence County, Mississippi, to the late Louie and Donis (Farmer) Prather.  She married LaMonte G. “Shorty” Bottomley on May 6, 1955, in Orrville. Shorty died on March 26, 2016.
She was a homemaker and also worked as a nurses aide for Brenn-Field Nursing Center for 10 years.
Billie was a former member of Christ United Church of Christ, Jelly City Senior Citizens and the Orrville Women’s Guild. She enjoyed bowling, crocheting, fishing, painting, and traveling with LaMonte.  Most recently she loved playing BINGO with her friends.
Surviving are her son, Alfred (Polly) Bottomley of Canal Fulton; two daughters, Sue (John) Skeens of Wooster and Alisha (Tim) Musser of Marshallville; 8 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; brother, Jerry (Lynn) Prather of Medina; sister, Judy (James) Shamp of Middle Bass Island; and sister-in-law, Ruth Prather of Orrville.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Wayne and Thomas Prather.
Friends may call on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at Auble Funeral Home, 512 East Oak Street, Orrville, from 10:00 am to 11:15 am.
Services will follow at 11:30 am on Saturday, at the funeral home, with Pastor Toby Oaks officiating.  Burial will take place at Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville.
