Anna Berdene Richards, 93
Anna Berdene Richards, 93, of Mt. Eaton, passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2023 at Cleveland Clinic Mercy Medical Center following a brief illness.
Berdene was born on a farm near Winesburg, OH on December 13, 1929 to the late Harvey E. and Bertha (Jensen) Herman. Berdene walked to Beidler School through grade 8. She graduated from Beach City High School and then from Ohio Institute of Business in Wooster. She married Herbert W. Richards on September 1, 1950 and he preceded her in death on October 8, 1996.
Berdene helped on the family farm and was also employed by Southeast Local Schools as a secretary at Mt. Eaton Elementary for 30 years. She was a lifetime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mount Hope and she enjoyed sewing, preserving fruits and vegetables and feeding baby calves.
Berdene is survived by a son, Kenneth and a daughter, Dolores both of Mount Eaton; five grandchildren, Katrina, Matthew, Jason, Jeremy and Jeff.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Ronald, and brothers and sisters-in-law, Karl (Betty) Herman, Ralph (Norma) Herman and Lester (Marjorie) Herman.
Services will be Tuesday, Aug. 29th at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mount Hope with Rev. Bruce Breudigam officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery in Winesburg. Friends may call Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, PO Box 11, Mount Hope, OH 44660. Murray Funeral Home in Fredericksburg is handling arrangements.
