He would want you to know that his work here was done and he was ready to go. He preached his last sermon just three and a half weeks ago.
Ray was born on January 19, 1933, in Piqua, Ohio, to the late Harrison R. and Treva (Hahn) Aspinall. He graduated from Smithville High School in 1951. On March 8, 1953 he married his high school sweetheart, Marilyn J. Murray. For the next 70 years Ray and Marilyn shared love and ministry together.

He went on to earn a Master’s of Divinity from Ashland Theological Seminary and a Master’s of Missiology from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, CA.
He was a Pastor in the Brethren Church for many churches throughout Ohio, Indiana and Illinois. Early in their marriage, Ray and Marilyn answered the call to serve as missionaries in Argentina. They lived and served there for 30 years. They loved their adopted country and Ray lived the rest of his life with his heart in two places. Last year, he had the great joy of watching his beloved adoptive country win the World Cup in soccer!
Ray loved to share the Word of God and worked as an interim pastor well into his late 80’s, retiring in 2021.
He was a member of Smithville Brethren Church and a former member of the Orrville Lion’s Club. He loved watching sports, especially soccer, and also watching Jeopardy.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Marilyn, are his son, Mark Alan (Rose) Aspinall of Alexandria, IN; two daughters, Kathy Lynn (Daniel) Rosales of Bradenton, FL and Claudia Kay (Ken) Horner of Orrville; ten grandchildren, Kristen Vo, Rachel Russell, Ezequiel Rosales, Ayelen Carrasco, Michelle Gette, Natalia Moreno, Ashley Sherman, Bryce Horner, Brandon Horner, and Micaela Amis; 20 great grandchildren; four siblings, Theda Tipton of FL, David Aspinall of NC, Terry Aspinall of FL, and Sue Swartz of Piqua; many extended family and children of the heart, including Irma Sotola of Argentina and her children, Lizzie and Diego Sotola.
