Eileen Horst, 97
Dalton — Eileen Horst, age 97, of Dalton, formerly of Smithville, passed away Thursday, September 14, 2023, at Aultman Hospital in Canton, after three days of declining health.
Eileen was born on January 2, 1926, in Wadsworth, Ohio, to the late Herman and Erma (Brenneman) Brenner, attended Wadsworth High School, marrying LaVerne D. Horst on January 2, 1947. LaVerne passed on May 20, 2010.
Three children survive, Larry (Debbi) Horst of Sarasota, FL, Loretta (Merlin) Erb of Dalton, and Everett Horst of Colleyville, TX; daughter-in-law, Linda Horst of Wooster; eight grandchildren, Todd (Kim) Horst of Wooster, Calvin (Heather) Horst of Sarasota, FL, Ryan (Blake) Horst of Venice, FL, Krystle Horst of Murfreesboro, TN, Courtney (Jim) Horst of Wesley Chapel, FL, Benjamin (Jill) Erb of Boquete, Panama, Paul (Helin) Erb of Amherst, MA, and Christopher (Elise) Erb of Auckland, NZ; seven great grandchildren; two siblings,
Donna Gable of Orrville, and Ellen (Marion) Steiner of Temperance, MI; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Eileen was preceded in death by son, Ken E. Horst; and four siblings, Beulah Diller, Miriam Jeanneret, Bill Brenner, and Bernice Nussbaum.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am on October, 7, 2023, at Connection Church, 1633 Portage Road, Wooster, with Pastor Tom Broyles officiating. Burial will be at Martins Mennonite Cemetery in Orrville.
Eileen shared her beautiful smile with everyone, loving her family deeply and serving her Lord passionately. She was a gifted artist, an excellent seamstress, and happiest when busy creating, possessing a keen sense for color and composition.
