Glenn E. Loomis

DALTON – Glenn E. Loomis, age 86, passed away on December 1, 2023.

Born in Deerfield, OH on January 12, 1937 to the late Harlow and Vernice (Ellison) Loomis, Glenn had been a resident of Dalton for nearly 70 years. A 1954 graduate of Dalton High School, he went on to serve in the Ohio National Guard. Glenn retired from Culligan Water as a salesman after 43 years, receiving numerous sales awards.  He was a member of the Dalton United Methodist Church and enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and spent countless hours doing puzzles with his wife.  He loved playing cards and games with family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Mary J. Loomis; sisters, Dorothy Stanton and Twila Abbuhl, and brother, Raymond Loomis. Glenn is survived by his children, Steve (Paula) Loomis of Norfolk, VA, Roger (Melissa) Loomis of Newark, OH, and Sharon (Ed) Starling of Wooster; grandchildren, Megan (Adam Malherbe) Loomis, Alexandria (Rob) Gosnell, Devin Loomis, and Scott Starling; great-grandchildren, Peyton and Riley Kincaid, Kimber and Carson Malherbe, Kennedy and Oakley Gosnell, and one on the way; brother, Walter Loomis of Osceola, IN; sister-in-law, Ruth Loomis of Fort Wayne, IN; many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 11:30 a.m. at Dalton United Methodist Church, 204 W. Main St., Dalton, OH 44618 with Pastor David Martin officiating. Calling hours will be from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Private inurnment will take place at Dalton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church.     He was a very special man, and we will miss him terribly! He was always a rock for his family, and he was a very strong Christian.
