Lowell J. Oswald, 87

DALTON — Lowell J. Oswald, age 87, of Dalton, died Sunday, December 10, 2023, at Aultman Hospital in Canton, following a period of declining health.
Lowell was born on June 21, 1936, in Apple Creek, to the late Levi and Ruby (Mast) Oswald and graduated from Apple Creek High School in 1954.  He married Janet Lucille Steiner on April 16, 1960, in Orrville. Janet died on October 22, 2022.
He was a self-employed long distance truck driver for several companies and finished his career working for and retiring from Nichols Bakery.
Lowell was a member of Orrville Christian Church.  He enjoyed making model trucks and even made his own wooden car, the “Oak Bug”.  In his retirement he enjoyed volunteering for CAMO in Orrville as well as MCC Connections in Kidron where he verified donated puzzles had all their pieces.
Surviving are two daughters, Karen (Paul) Streb of Dalton and Kathy (Doug) Shimanek of Orrville; son, Terry Oswald of Crestline; nine grandchildren, Angela (Brian) Anderson, Lindsay (Max) Ramsay, Abby (Brad) Withrich, Trent (Brittany Chomyak) Shimanek, Tyler (Brittany) Shimanek, Troy (Christin) Shimanek, Holly (Joe) Girdlestone, Jalyn Oswald, and Jaxon Oswald; 17 great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Harold (Mellanie) Oswald of Apple Creek, Gary (Carolann) Oswald of Wooster, and Robert (Donna) Oswald of CO.
Friends may call on Friday, December 15, 2023, at Orrville Christian Church, from 10:00 am to 10:45 am.
Services will follow at 11:00 am on Friday, at Orrville Christian Church, with Pastor Tom Ledford officiating.  Family burial will take place at the Dalton Cemetery.
