George R. Amstutz, 92

Dalton — George R. Amstutz, age 92, of Dalton, passed away on Friday, January 19, 2024, at his residence in Dalton surrounded by his family.
George was born on September 3, 1931, in Harrisonburg, Virginia, to the late Leonord and Sarah (Nussbaum) Amstutz. He attended Smithville High School and went on to proudly serve in the United States Army in Germany during the Korean War. He married Margaret L. Gray on September 15, 1951, in Orrville. Margaret died on November 1, 2017.
He was a jack of all trades. George worked as a bus driver for Dalton Local Schools, as a construction worker for Nussbaum Construction, as a truck driver and dispatcher for Weather Seal/Georgia Pacific Trucking, and as a supervisor for Benedict Enterprises.
George was a member of the Canton Baptist Temple. He enjoyed woodworking and was known as a handyman considering he could fix most anything he got his hands on. But most of all George cherished spending time with his family.
Surviving are three children, Mike (Karen) Amstutz of Apple Creek, Dawn (Mike) Wagner of Orrville, and Gary (Pam) Amstutz of Loveland; 8 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and six siblings, Orden Amstutz, Enos Amstutz, Sank Amstutz, Dot Mowrer, Larry Amstutz, and Chet Amstutz; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Margaret, George was preceded in death by 2 great-grandchildren; and 4 siblings, Sylvan Amstutz, Virginia Gerber, Lois Quigley, and Kenneth Amstutz.
Friends may call on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at Auble Funeral Home, 512 East Oak Street, Orrville, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
Graveside services will be held at 9:30 am on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at Kidron Mennonite Cemetery in Kidron. A Celebration of Life will follow at 11:30 am on Wednesday, in the Chapel at Canton Baptist Temple, 515 Whipple Ave. NW, Canton, with Pastors Mike Frazier and Jake Tovissi officiating.
