Marilyn Schantz, 96

Orrville — Marilyn Schantz, age 96, of Orrville, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at The Inn at CoalRidge in Wadsworth, following a brief period of declining health.
Marilyn was born on September 9, 1927, in Massillon, Ohio, to the late Lauristen and Catherine (Lippay) Miller and married John A. Schantz on September 20, 1952, in Massillon at St. John’s Evangelical and Reformed Church. John passed away on July 4, 2013.
She graduated from Massillon Washington High School in 1945 and went on to obtain her bachelors from Miami University. Marilyn worked hard to make her house a home for her family.
Marilyn was a very active member of The Christ United Church of Christ. She and her late husband, John, traveled extensively all over the world. She was also involved in many clubs and organizations. She was involved in Bridge Clubs, Tuesday Book Club, Nomad, the Blossom Women’s Committee, the McDowell Music Club, the Wooster Historical Society, the Women’s Committee for Wooster Symphony, and donated to the Cleveland Orchestra. She enjoyed sewing, needle work, and golfing in her younger years. Her cooking and baking were excellent and enjoyed by many. Most of all Marilyn cherished spending time with her family.
Surviving are son, Timothy E. Schantz, of High Point, NC, and his wife Marcy, and their children Mathew W. Schantz, and his wife Heather, and Michael B. Schantz, and his wife Erika; daughter Molly C. (Schantz) Davis, of Wadsworth, Ohio, and her four children Andrew T. Davis, his wife Sara, Brian M. Davis, Lauren E. Blevins, and her husband Rob, and Danielle C. Coe, and her husband Adam; daughter Melanie M. (Schantz) Muggia, of Andover, Massachusetts, and husband Al Muggia, and their three children Taggart S. Muggia, Morgan B. Muggia, and Bess B. Muggia; and daughter Suzanne Elizabeth (Schantz) Birkbeck, of Canton, Ohio, and her husband Mike Birkbeck, and their son John L. Birkbeck, and his wife Skyler; and 5 great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Tom Miller; and son-in-law, Timothy H. Davis.
Memorial services will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Christ United Church of Christ, 301 North Main Street, Orrville.
